Incorporating Meeks
Peter Field Transport Limited was proud to incorporate Meeks of Luton in 2007 due to their very long standing reputation in the transport industry and a history that goes back as far as the early 1930s.
The combination of our two family businesses upholds their reputations. We are pleased to keep up the good name of their highly successful business and some of the vehicles still carry the distinctive Meeks livery.
Our History
It was the year when West Germany beat the Netherlands 2–1 to win the FIFA World Cup; Muhammad Ali knocked out George Foreman in 8 rounds to regain the Heavyweight title. Against this background, in 1974, a young entrepreneur Peter Field began trading as a ‘one man’ band, and steadily built a good reputation with regular clients in South East England.
With continued growth and expansion, Peter Field Transport became a limited company in 1984 and continued to prosper through the 80s and 90s, winning regular contracts with many satisfied clients.
In June 2003 Peter Field decided to retire from the business and his son Robert Field became a Joint Director with the company’s Transport Manager, Paul Harrison.
Anxious to build on their good standing, the pair acquired another prestigious company – Meeks of Luton and relocated to their premises. This afforded Peter Field Transport Limited extensive warehouse facilities and a large purpose built yard situated in a prime location that is ideal as a distribution centre.
Today the company operates a modern fleet of 24 vehicles, with a well run operation that continues to be a respected name in road haulage, storage and distribution.
Our Fleet
Peter Field Transport Limited currently operates a modern fleet of commercial vehicles and trailers for many different applications. These range from small commercial Pick ups right up to 44 ton articulated vehicles.
In these days of high volumes of traffic any delay costs money, which is why it is especially important to ensure that all our vehicles are maintained to the highest possible standards and are up to the job.
Workshop
Our transport operation is continually monitored by well trained, experienced staff to ensure our customers are never let down. Regular maintenance and safety checks are carried out in our own fully equipped workshop, manned by a team of time-served, qualified mechanics and fitters.
Security
The security of our vehicles and premises is given considerable priority. All areas are constantly guarded, alarmed and have the additional benefit of multi-screen CCTV camera units recording and relaying live images to the Traffic and Central Office. Fire and smoke alarms are regularly tested.
